What this site collects, and what it does not.
Estate Advisory is run by Eugene Chen, Certified Will Planner. It explains topics and offers tools. Most of it collects nothing about you.
What collects nothing
The guides, the will preview, the retirement planner, the SRS calculator and the tax calculator do not send what you type or choose to anyone, and do not store it. It stays on your device and is gone when you close or reload the page. The site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other websites. It is hosted by Cloudflare, so the technical details that every web request carries pass through Cloudflare’s network.
The contact form: the one place we keep details
The form on the Talk to Eugene page is laid out as the HSBC Life Survey Form. If you use it, these details are collected, and no others:
- your name and mobile number, and your email address if you give one;
- your answers to the six survey questions, which you may leave blank, and the marketing options you tick;
- a record that you gave your consent, which wording of it you saw (v3), and when.
Why
To reply to you. Eugene may reply by phone or WhatsApp. We use your details for nothing else. This website sends your answers to Eugene only. It does not send them to HSBC Life.
The form refers to HSBC Life’s own Data Privacy Policy, which sets out how HSBC Life uses personal data:HSBC Life (Singapore), Data Privacy Policy (PDF).
Where they go
When you send the form, your details are saved in Airtable, an online database service, in a table that belongs to Eugene. Airtable then emails them to Eugene. Airtable’s own help page lists the United States as its default region for data (Airtable, data residency), so your details are kept outside Singapore. Besides Airtable, your details pass through Cloudflare, which hosts this site and receives the form when you send it, and through the email service Eugene reads his mail with.
If sending fails, the form says so and offers WhatsApp instead. This site keeps nothing in your browser, and does not write anything you type to a log.
How long
We keep your details for as long as they are needed for the purposes in HSBC Life’s Data Privacy Policy, and delete them sooner if you ask. The law sets no fixed period; it asks that details are not kept once they are no longer needed for the purpose they were collected for, or for legal or business reasons (PDPC, Advisory Guidelines on Key Concepts in the PDPA).
The consent you give
The form shows the consent paragraph and the notice below, with a box beside them that is already ticked. If you do not agree, untick it, and the form cannot then be sent. These are the words you see, in version v3:
I or We understand that HSBC Life (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (“HSBC Life”) Data Privacy Policy (which may be found at http://www.insurance.hsbc.com.sg/privacy-and-security/ ) forms a part of the terms and conditions governing my or our relationship with HSBC Life. I or We consent to the collection, use and disclosure of my or our personal data for the purposes set out in the Data Privacy Policy. I agree to receive marketing and promotional materials from the HSBC Group via the following : (Please tick accordingly and you may tick more than one option) I or We agree to the above. On this website your answers and details are sent to Estate Advisory, saved in Eugene’s Airtable account, which is outside Singapore, and emailed to him so that he can reply by phone or WhatsApp. I can withdraw my consent at any time, as the privacy page explains.
Your rights
Under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act, you may:
- withdraw your consent at any time;
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and how we have used it;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
To do any of these, or to ask a question about your details, contact: Eugene, by WhatsApp on +65 8819 9457 or by email at eugene@estateadvisory.sg.
If you message Eugene on WhatsApp
Every page has a WhatsApp button. It opens WhatsApp with a short message that is the same for every visitor and holds nothing you typed on this site. After that, the conversation is between you and Eugene, and WhatsApp’s own terms apply to it.
